Youth4Youth: Celebrating a Successful Semester of Event Management at Humber Polytechnic
For four years, YWS has partnered with Humber Polytechnic’s Event Management students to create meaningful events to support the youth who call YWS home. This semester, under the guidance of Professor Tracey Grieveson, Humber students planned and executed six outstanding events in support of YWS, each centred around three impactful themes: Awareness, Gifts in Kind, and Fundraising.
The students truly excelled. I was so impressed by the care and attention to detail they put into their work. Each team crafted thoughtful events that not only helped raise awareness for issues of homelessness but also matched the needs of their classmates. April is a stressful time for many students, so hosting events focused on health and wellbeing, self-care, and relaxation was a meaningful way to engage their peers, create supportive, relevant experiences, and ultimately increase participation. I was thrilled to see so many of these groups tie their ideas back to promoting mental health — a value that’s deeply important to us at YWS as well.
To all the students – thank you.
Your dedication and creativity shone through in every detail of your events. From the engaging activities to the thoughtful messaging, you created experiences that were not only fun but also powerful and purposeful. Your efforts have truly helped raise awareness about youth homelessness and advanced the mission of YWS. We’re so grateful for your passion and support.
To Professor Tracey Grieveson: Please accept my immense gratitude for organizing yet another outstanding semester in partnership with YWS.
To the businesses involved in these initiatives: Thank you for supporting the students this semester. Your contributions have been invaluable in helping these future event managers bring their visions to life and make a difference in our community.
As we look back on this semester, it is clear that the collaboration between Humber Polytechnic and YWS has been a resounding success. The students have gained invaluable experience, and their events have made a positive impact on both their peers and the wider community. We look forward to continuing this partnership and seeing what future semesters will bring!
